Southwest Regional Medical Center recently conducted a decontamination training session.  The purpose of the training was to allow staff to practice proper techniques involved with chemical decontamination.

“In the event of a chemical spill, it is vital that we are prepared to appropriately respond,” said Mike Onusko, Director of Emergency and Outpatient Services and Emergency Preparedness Coordinator.  “The training offered a hands-on opportunity to reinforce the practices we use in such a situation.”

Glenn Miller and Eric Poach with PMG Associates assisted with the training program. As experts in emergency management, PMG Associates help hospitals with disaster response and planning, pandemic influenza, regulatory and standards compliance. The hospital has a comprehensive emergency plan to deal with varied disasters.  The plan is updated annually.
