Monday, January 23, 2012 is International Integrative Medicine (IIM) Day. IIM Day inspires worldwide dialog, education, collaboration, research initiatives and programming about medicine that is patient-centered, holistic, economically and environmentally sustainable, and conscious of integrating different global medical systems.
Forbes Family Medicine will be hosting events and lectures all day at Forbes Regional Hospital to educate both employees and the public about Integrative Medicine in the hospital’s Learning Centers. Below is a list of the day’s activities:
Learning Center 1:
7:20 to 8 a.m.: Mindful Breakfast – Presented by Ilana Seidel,MD
11 a.m. to noon: Mental Gymnastics: The Power of the Mind to Hurt & Heal – Presented by Diane Dean, RN-BC, LPC, NCC, CEG & Lisa Fleissner, MS, LPC, NCC
12 to 1:00 p.m.: Osteopathic Manipulation Therapy (OMT) Lecture – Presented by Phil Miller, DO
2 to 2:30 p.m.: Cardiac Health & Integrative Medicine – Presented by PK Sharma, MD
3 to 4 p.m.: My Plate – Presented by Theresa Shaffer, RD, LDN
5:30 to 6 p.m.: Meditation – Presented by Marty Seltman, MD
Learning Center 2:
12:45 to 2:15 p.m.: FREE Massage Treatments – Provided by Derek Hynds, BS, LMT
1 to 5 p.m.: FREE OMT Treatments – Provided by Phil Miller, DO
Also during the day, arts and crafts, raffles, and information about IIM will be offered in the back of the hospital’s cafeteria. The cafeteria will also be featuring a special IIM Day menu.
