Conemaugh Health System and Learning Lamp Host Car Seat Safety Check Program

Car seat safety helps prevent serious injury to children involved in motor vehicle accidents. The 2012 Pennsylvania Crash Facts & Statistics report by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation states that 81% of children under the age of four who were involved in crashes, sustained no injury if restrained by a child seat.

In an effort to increase the likelihood of survival during an accident, Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center is partnering with the Learning Lamp to hold a Car Seat Safety Check on Wednesday, July 10 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. The program will be held at Richland Fire Company on Scalp Avenue in Johnstown. Trained technicians will check car seats for recall, make sure the seat fits the height and weight of each child and teach parents and guardians how to properly install a car seat in a vehicle.

The Learning Lamp will provide free gifts for each child and offer a coupon for 25% off a purchase at EcoKids on Bedford Street.
