AVH Hosts Upcoming Heart Programs

Allegheny Valley Hospital’s (AVH) PriorityCare program will close heart month with a special presentation by John Balacko, MD from Tri-County Cardiology entitled “Heart Wise:  Understanding, Preventing and Treating Heart Disease” on Wednesday, February 29 at 6 p.m. in the Charles W. Young Conference Center at the hospital in Harrison.

Dr. Balacko will discuss the facts about heart disease, the risk factors you can modify and the treatment options available.  Understanding the cause and how to manage or prevent heart disease is the first step in preventing more serious heart problems any heart attacks.   The session will also include free blood pressure screening. AVH Hosts Chest Pain Program at Hospital

Chest discomfort or pain may be a key warning symptom of a heart attack. Too many people wait to see if the pain will pass.  Understanding the proper response to chest pain can make a life and death difference for you.

Allegheny Valley Hospital’s (AVH) PriorityCare program invites to learn more from Brian Check, EMT-P, when he discusses “Chest Pain: What To Do When It’s You”  on Thursday, February 16 at 6 p.m. at the Charles W. Young Conference Center at the hospital in Harrison.  Mr. Check, a paramedic and AVH’s Pre-Hospital Care Education Facilitator, will teach what to do when you experience a chest pain emergency and will help you understand the important role of the emergency medical personnel in the field.  You can save a life…yours.
